Well
the GNR sponsorship for October is now over £350, and the
Humber Bridge money for June is starting to come in. I ran my first
competitive race on Sunday, a 10k race at Knaresborough which I hoped
to complete in under an hour - unfortunately I was 66 seconds over
time! Just to prove I did it, here's me disappearing into the finish! |

I've
added a sponsorship site for the Humber Bridge half marathon here,
in aid of LUPUS UK. Hopefully this will help me prepare for the real
thing in October!

The
site at Justgiving has now raised over £220 in a few
daysIll have to raise the target from £300 or people
will think I dont want any more money! Had my first gym session
yesterday, feeling the effects of it today in the ankle I broke
orienteering three years ago. Still, its worth it even on
selfish grounds: Ive been training for 2 weeks now, lost 2kg in
weight and 2cm off my waist. At this rate Ill disappear
entirely from view in about 40 weeks!

I
set the fundraising site up two days ago and amazing generosity from
my first tranche of emails to family and friends brought £150 in
a few hours. Training is going wellIm running 13
miles a week now, just about to do a 5-miler. Im starting
easily as I dont want to overdo itI did have a hard run
on Sunday and did a measured 3 miles in under 27mins, which was
great. The dog thinks hes in heaven, as he gets to run the kind
of distances he thinks are worthwhile, never mind a 20 minute amble
on Hessle Foreshore... |
